The Discovery

The Discovery

The summer before my Junior year of College I dedicated my time and effort to building up a startup company called Tru-Colour Bandages. During this time I discovered my "tru" calling. I was meant to be in business communication, especially when focusing on products that effect social change. This is the true intersection of Art and Communication for me. I believe going into Advertising will give me the ability to truly effect how people perceive minorities in the media. Junior year I made the leap and became a Communication Major

As the Director of Communication for Tru-Colour Bandages, my goal was to increase customer awareness of our product through social media, advertising and events. I was an integral part of developing a brand that would provide a product that is necessary in affirming the beauty of darker skin tones. I was the point person for content strategy, public relations, advertising, brand development, photography and marketing.

This is where I found my passion for brand development and business communications. Products can be more than revenues streams, they have the potential to change narratives.

Junior year was a face dive into creative and below are videos that I produced or was featured in.

I discovered how important it is to use my non-dominant identities to guide the questions I asked of the world around me.

Looking forward I ask myself,

"How can I change media to accurately represent non-dominant identities?"

This is where my future is heading.
